Benalla Business Network reports a year of renewal and momentum
The Benalla Business Network (BBN) reflected on a year of renewal, collaboration and progress at its recent Annual General Meeting.
Since taking on committee roles in July 2024, the focus has been on building a sustainable organisation that delivers value to members while recognising the realities of volunteer capacity.
Supporting Local Events
One of the committee’s priorities has been strengthening the Network’s visibility within the community. BBN proudly sponsored the Benalla Street Art Festival, an event that attracts visitors, fills accommodation and drives foot traffic for local businesses.
Shop Local Campaign
A highlight of the year was the Shop Local Christmas campaign, delivered in partnership with Benalla Rural City Council. The campaign ran twice and distributed more than $1,000 in Benalla Business Dollars each time, encouraging the community to shop locally during the festive season.
Benalla Business Dollars
The Benalla digital dollars initiative continues to grow, with 16 local businesses now accepting the currency, helping keep spending circulating within the local economy.
Refreshing the Network
The committee also completed a full refresh of the Network’s logo, branding and website, improving communication with members and strengthening the organisation’s professional presence.
Connecting Local Businesses
Events remain central to BBN’s activities. Over the past year we has hosted a number of networking events, planning sessions and workshops, providing opportunities for local businesses to connect and collaborate.
BBN currently has 84 members, including 49 active members, with a further 35 recently invited to renew their membership.
Recognising Contributions
Treasurer Karen Nankervis was recognised for modernising the Network’s financial systems and strengthening financial processes.
Joel Spencer, responsible for communications and social media, was acknowledged for helping promote events, maintain the website and increase the Network’s visibility.
Thanks were also extended to Annette Borradale, a former committee member, and to Annie and Yonnie, who joined as friends of the committee and assisted with recent initiatives.
New Committee Members
BBN welcomes the new committee, thanks to all who are volunteering their time and effort.
